WHAT IS LOCAL PRESENCE DIALING?
Local presence dialing means displaying a caller ID with the same area code as the person you're calling. When recipients see a local number, they're significantly more likely to answer. Studies show local numbers get answered 4x more often than out-of-area or unknown numbers.
WHY IT WORKS
- People trust local numbers — they assume it's a neighbor, local business, or doctor's office
- Many people screen calls and only answer numbers they recognize or that appear local
- Spam filters are less likely to flag local numbers
- Callback rates increase because the recipient sees a real-looking local number in their call history
HOW TO SET UP LOCAL PRESENCE WITH SpoofGlobal
- Identify the area codes of the people you're calling
- Choose a caller ID from each target area code (e.g., 212 for Manhattan, 310 for LA, 416 for Toronto)
- Before each call, set your caller ID in the bot to match the recipient's area code
- For automated dialing, use IP2IP mode with your PBX and set caller ID dynamically per call in your dialplan
AUTOMATED LOCAL PRESENCE
For high-volume operations, manually changing caller ID per call isn't practical. Instead:
- Use IP2IP mode to connect your PBX
- In your Asterisk/FreePBX/VICIdial dialplan, set
CALLERID(num) dynamically based on the destination number's area code
- Maintain a database of local numbers for each area code
- Your PBX selects the matching local number for each outbound call automatically
BEST PRACTICES
- Use real-looking numbers — 10-digit US numbers with valid area codes
- Rotate your caller IDs periodically to avoid them being flagged
- Use CLI routes — No CLI routes won't display your chosen caller ID
- Match the country code too — don't display a US number when calling UK recipients
LOCAL PRESENCE BY COUNTRY
Local presence works in any country SpoofGlobal supports. Match the local area code or city code of your target:
- USA/Canada — match the 3-digit area code (e.g., 212, 416, 604)
- UK — match the STD code (e.g., 020 for London, 0161 for Manchester)
- Germany — match the Vorwahl (e.g., 030 for Berlin, 089 for Munich)
- France — match the regional prefix (01 for Paris, 04 for SE France)
Does local presence really increase answer rates?+
Yes. Studies consistently show that calls from local numbers are answered 3-4x more often than calls from unknown or out-of-area numbers.
Can I automate local presence dialing?+
Yes. Use IP2IP mode with a PBX like Asterisk or VICIdial. Set the caller ID dynamically in your dialplan based on the destination number's area code.
Is local presence dialing legal?+
Displaying a caller ID is legal in most jurisdictions as long as it's not done with intent to defraud. Check the Truth in Caller ID Act (US) or your local regulations.
Do I need a different SpoofGlobal account for each local number?+
No. One account is enough. Simply change your caller ID in the bot or set it dynamically per call from your PBX.
